About Justin

Justin J. Holden is a communications and content creation leader with over two decades of experience in nonprofit management ranging from world renowned arts and culture organizations to public broadcasting. From 2015 to 2023, he led and mentored The Cleveland Orchestra communications team, with a focus on internal corporate and external messaging strategies, reputation management, institutional editorial vision, social and traditional media implementation for international, national, and regional projects. In a senior leadership role as The Cleveland Orchestra’s Vice President of Communications, he was co-leader for the organization’s Communications / Marketing / Audience Engagement / Venues / Events Teams.

Preceding Cleveland, Justin worked in New York City for the leading cultural public relations firm, Polskin Arts & Communications Counselors as a Senior Account Executive. In this role, he developed and implemented strategic communications campaigns with a wide range of prestigious clients in the United States and around the world, including Miami’s New World Symphony, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, The Armory Show Art Fair, Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, Olivier Awards, LaPlaca Cohen’s Culture Track, and with JPMorgan Chase Bank (The Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize).

Prior to Polskin Arts, Justin worked in the public relations departments of Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic, as well as the commercial marketing division of WGBH Public TV & Radio in Boston.

Justin grew up in Vermont. He has degrees from Boston University, a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the School for the Arts and a Masters of Science in Arts Administration with distinction.

Justin has immense pride and gratitude for the support of his parents, Mark and Sue Holden, who are the co-founders of a PFLAG chapter (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) in Middletown, Delaware.
